PingProperties buys Carnisse Veste shopping centre in Barendrecht

PingProperties has succeeded in acquiring the Carnisse Veste shopping centre from the vendor Syntrus Achmea Real Estate & Finance. This district shopping centre, with a +50% food-related lessee mix of 50 shops with approx. 15,300 m² of retail space and 495 parking spaces, is located at Van Beuningenhaven 71 in Barendrecht, in the heart of an affluent catchment area. Despite the coronavirus crisis, PingProperties sees great potential in local shopping centres where more than 60% of the shops are aimed at day-to-day shopping needs. Each week Carnisse Veste attracts 75,000 shoppers, the main draws being the two full-service supermarkets Jumbo and Albert Heijn, together with Kruidvat, Etos and Action.
With the purchase of Carnisse Veste, PingProperties is further expanding its convenience retail portfolio. PingProperties believes in the power of local shopping centres, where active management and personal attention to shopkeepers can add value. Syntrus Achmea has sold Carnisse Veste on behalf of one of its clients as the shopping centre no longer fits in with its strategic investment objectives.
Carnisse Veste Daily Convenience Centre
The complex (approx. 15,300 m² of retail space) consists of 50 units on two floors and is easily reached by public transport and car. All units are supplied from 2 large delivery lanes accessed from Portlandse Baan. Parking facilities with 495 free parking spaces are on the ground floor of the building. Lessees focus mainly on food and day-to-day non-food necessities. Carnisse Veste is visited by 3.9 million people each year.
Purchasing strategy for convenience retail
PingProperties will be investing more in convenience retail in local urban centres. It believes in a strategy with a strong mix of lessees focusing on the constant movement and exchange of people, goods and services. Local shopping centres thrive where there is a good range of shops serving day-to-day needs (food, greengrocer, fishmonger, butcher, florist, household goods, newsagent etc.), local heroes (beauty and massage parlours, hair salons etc.), social amenities (pharmacist, doctor, dentist, fitness school etc.) and a strong offline presence combined with online retail concepts.

PingProperties lets vacant units in the Koploper in Amersfoort
In February PingProperties renewed and added extra office space to long-term leases with three tenants in the Koploper building, located at Stationsplein 89 in Amersfoort. The tenants are Stichting Toegepast Onderzoek Waterbeheer (STOWA), Alzheimer Nederland and Trans Link Systems.
