PingProperties invests further in sustainability improvements at DTC Zoetermeer

01-10-2026

PingProperties has taken a further step in upgrading Dutch Tech Campus in Zoetermeer and improving its sustainability. Extensive work has been carried out in around 18,000 m² of commercial space accommodating organizations such as Reconext, TNO and Joulz, to further reduce energy consumption, improve the indoor climate and prepare the buildings better for climate change.

Far-reaching electrification for Reconext
Buildings B3 and D3, which are used by Reconext, have now been switched over to electric heating. New heat pumps take over a large proportion of the heating, significantly reducing gas consumption. In addition, air-conditioning units have been replaced by new, more energy-efficient systems. The ventilation capacity of the offices has also been extended with additional air-conditioning units. This provides a greater supply of fresh air, while investing at the same time in a healthy and comfortable indoor environment for employees. The sustainability improvements to Reconext’s accommodation has covered around 12,700 m² of commercial space.

LED lighting and new roof insulation
Further improvements have been made in buildings B3, C3 and D3, which will also benefit the buildings occupied by TNO and Joulz. Across an area of around 18,000 m² the existing fluorescent lighting has been replaced by energy-saving LED lighting. Around 18,000 m² of the roof has also been re-insulated to minimize heat loss and further reduce the buildings’ energy consumption.

Alongside the energy-saving measures, PingProperties has also invested in preparing the buildings for climate change. Measures include the installation of new systems for draining away rainwater more efficiently, so that the buildings can cope with periods of heavy rainstorms.

Strengthening the position of Dutch Tech Campus
Since the purchase of the former Siemens complex in 2015, PingProperties has been transforming the area from a monofunctional commercial site into Dutch Tech Campus: an environment where technology companies, educational institutions and other organizations can meet and reinforce each other. The sustainability work forms part of PingProperties’ broader strategy to gradually make the existing buildings at Dutch tech Campus more sustainable and future-proof. Investments are linked as much as possible to renovations, natural replacement moments and new or long-term leases.

Earlier, some 6,000 m² of office space for Siemens Mobility and Yunex Traffic and around 6,000 m² for TKH Security were renovated and upgraded to energy label A+. Around 2,500 m² for businesses including Joulz were improved to achieve energy label A. This shows that a clear result has already been achieved: during the past five years, energy consumption at Dutch Tech Campus has been reduced by around 45%, despite the campus’s higher occupancy level.
