Energy consumption more sustainable at DUNEA

DUNEA’s head office is in Zoetermeer, right next to Zoetermeer station and the A12 motorway. This distinctive crescent-shaped building, designed by Graziosi Progetti architects, has a lettable floor area of 8,519 m² and an excellent parking ratio. In 2013 the building was entirely stripped and given new façades, resulting in energy label A.

 

PingProperties continues to make sustainability improvements in 2022 by facilitating savings in the energy consumption of its tenant DUNEA, thus taking steps towards achieving a Paris Proof building, During the coming year the roof covering will be renewed, on which around 168 solar panels will be installed. These panels can generate approx. 57,000 kWh a year which will give us an annual saving of almost 35,000 kg in CO2 emissions. In addition, the lighting in the building (around 1,000 lights) will be replaced by energy-efficient LED lighting.

 

Alongside this work on improving the building’s sustainability, other improvements will be made such as fully modernizing the entrance. DUNEA itself will renovate the entire interior. The work is expected to be completed this year. The building already has an energy label A, but these measures will reduce energy consumption considerably and therefore reduce CO2 emissions. PingProperties will apply for BREEAM-in use certification for this purpose and theoretically the building will achieve energy label A+.

 

PingProperties saw the potential to improve the sustainability of this splendid building. By working closely with its existing tenant DUNEA, PingProperties was able to convince it to commit to the property for the long term. As a result, PingProperties is creating value not only for DUNEA and its employees, but also for the Municipality of Zoetermeer by retaining a major party in its municipality, and for its investors. But above all for the built environment, because this is another important step towards reducing CO2 emissions.
