PingProperties delivers 15,000 m² to ROC Rijn IJssel

05-10-2020

PingProperties has delivered over 15,000 m² of office and educational space, including 170 parking spaces, to ROC Rijn IJssel, marking the start of the lease. The buildings are two former offices of AkzoNobel, including the characteristic Witte Villa, which until recently was the head office of chemicals giant Teijin Aramid. ROC is leasing the four lower floors of the AkzoNobel tower. Both buildings, located at the entrance to the former AkzoNobel – ENKA site at Velperweg 76, Arnhem, will be occupied by the central staff and the Creative Industry educational cluster. ROC will move into the offices during the summer of 2021 following a large-scale renovation. By moving to the site, ROC is committing itself to the location for the very long term.

Campus
A sustainable campus is being created on the site, where various clusters will be grouped together at a single, central location. Earlier this year PingProperties had already delivered two smaller buildings on Vosdijk to ROC Rijn IJssel. These buildings will accommodate the Technology and ICT educational cluster. The campus is expected to be fully operational in time for the start of the new school year in September 2021.

Urban development in Arnhem
The construction of the ROC Rijn IJssel campus is part of a large-scale urban development in Arnhem, where the former monofunctional AkzoNobel – ENKA site is being redeveloped as a multifunctional area combining homes, work and education.

The site, located at Velperweg 76 in Arnhem, has been owned by PingProperties since 2012 and covers 13.1 hectares with approx. 70,000 m² of office and laboratory buildings and around 850 parking spaces. In 2017 PingProperties sold 5 hectares of land to the KlokGroep/BPD consortium to develop a residential neighbourhood providing a high-quality living environment. Elsewhere on the site, a start was made last year transforming an old laboratory building into the international head office of chemicals giant Teijin Aramid. This new head office, named T One, was recently delivered and taken into occupation by Teijin Aramid. An educational function is now being added with the arrival of ROC Rijn IJssel.
