PingProperties completes 1st construction phase of Stadshart Daily Plaza in Zoetermeer!

20-12-2024

The covered shopping arcade of Stadshart Zoetermeer has undergone a total metamorphosis! Around 13,000 m² has been redeveloped as the daily convenience centre named ‘Stadshart Daily Plaza’. An important element was to bring in a supermarket as anchor tenant to attract many more visitors to the arcade, and so last year PingProperties signed a lease with Dirk supermarkets. Now that the work by the contractor Van Wijnen of Stolkwijk has been successfully completed, the new Dirk supermarket can open its doors on Wednesday 8 January 2025. Dirk anticipates welcoming a few thousand visitors for this festive opening of its new store.

Another important element of the redevelopment is to improve the accessibility of the covered Daily Plaza Zoetermeer by car. To achieve this, PingProperties has replaced existing retail space with a new, modern basement car park that is directly connected to two travelators. It enables customers to take their shopping in the trolley to their car direct from the shops.

PingProperties expects the transformation of the covered arcade into the Stadshart Daily Plaza shopping centre to generate a significant increase in the number of visitors. Jeroen Puik, asset manager at PingProperties: ‘Alongside the essential presence of the Dirk supermarket, new arrivals in Stadshart Daily Plaza include Pets Place, Kiddieland and Iper Megastores. We also welcome back the chemists store Trekpleister, which had moved out of the Stadshart’. PingProperties has also extended the lease with retailers that are a good fit for the Daily Plaza concept, such as Jamin, Holland & Barrett, Intertoys and Xenos.

A further important element of the redevelopment is to improve the existing shopping centre’s image. SUM Architecten has made a major contribution to the design of this redevelopment, modernizing the existing shop fronts and also taking the layout of the retail units in hand. These improvements will become more and more visible during the coming weeks.

Next year PingProperties will let the small retail units still vacant to traditional food retailers, such as a bakery, coffee corner, butcher, lunchroom, fishmonger, greengrocer etc., with the aim of creating a complete fresh produce section. Thanks to this transformation, the shopping centre will become a daily convenience centre where everyone can do all their daily shopping under one roof, with everything accessible with just one shopping trolley.
