25-08-2025
PingProperties has signed a new lease with Ernsting’s family for Passage Schiedam shopping centre, where the fashion store will be opening a new branch of around 232 m². Ernsting’s family sells fashion and home accessories for the whole family, with the emphasis on underwear, womenswear and children’s clothing. The store will open its doors in Passage Schiedam during the third quarter of 2025, in the former premises of Douglas at Nieuwe Passage 34.
Passage Schiedam
Passage Schiedam is superbly located in the historic centre of Schiedam and is the largest covered shopping centre in the city, with a history dating back to 1932. The shopping centre, comprising around 18,500 m2 LFA, has 50 retail units across a ground floor and three upper floors, as well as a five-level car park with 280 parking spaces. Passage Schiedam attracted almost 3 million visitors in 2024 (9.5% more than in 2023), with Dirk supermarket, Hema, Action, H&M and Nelson as anchor retailers.
During the past 3.5 years PingProperties has working intensively on optimizing the range of shops so that the shopping centre better suits the needs and opportunities of its catchment area. This has involved renewing the lease of successful shops and replacing poorly performing shops with new, strong retail chains. Basic-Fit, Istanbul Supermarkt and Ernsting’s family are opening stores in the Passage this year.
Ernsting’s family
With around 2,000 branches in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands, a multiple award-winning online presence and more than 12,500 employees, Ernsting’s family is one of the most important omnichannel textile retailers in Western Europe. In the 2024/2025 financial year Ernsting’s family achieved a turnover of around 1.6 billion euros. The company, with its head office in Coesfeld (Westphalia) sells fashion and home accessories for the whole family, with the emphasis on underwear, womenswear and children’s clothing. Quality at surprisingly affordable prices is the guiding principle of the company, which strives for the continous development of new distribution channels and sales outlets with social, public and environmental responsibility.
