15-06-2026
PingProperties has sold Passage Schiedam shopping centre, comprising around 18,100 m²/50 retail units and a five-level car park, to the Dutch property investor Meerdervoort. This transaction completes PingProperties’ successful optimization of the shopping centre.
During the past 5 years PingProperties has worked intensively on optimizing the range of shops in the shopping centre to better meet the wishes and opportunities of the catchment area. To achieve this, PingProperties has renewed the leases for successful shops and replaced poorly performing shops with new, strong retail chains. The shopping centre has also added two new supermarkets, new restaurants and cafes, and a Basic Fit gym. Alongside optimizing the mix of tenants, PingProperties has also made significant investments in improving the appearance of the centre and renovating or renewing all the technical and mechanical systems. All these measures have resulted in a modern, fully let shopping centre with a varied and more attractive range of shops.
Sander Rovers, Chief Investment Officer at PingProperties, explains: ‘During the past few years we have been working hard on improving Passage Schiedam shopping centre. It is now operating better than ever and we have embedded the complex more firmly in the city and its catchment area. Schiedam is an interesting city with a fast-growing and changing demographic. I believe that we have laid strong foundations to ensure that the shopping centre can look forward to a successful future. We are pleased to have been able in this way to contribute to a lively city centre. I heartily congratulate Meerdervoort with this transaction.’
PingProperties was advised in the sale by Kokelenberg & Ouwehand (commercial), NewGround Law (legal) and Newtone (tax).
