RVB renews lease and expands in the Cascade complex in Groningen

PingProperties has concluded a lease with the Central Government Real Estate Agency (Rijksvastgoedbedrijf – RVB) for approx. 13,500 m² in the Cascade complex in Groningen. Besides the complex’s central location near the station and its architectural and structural quality, the sustainability improvements are a major reason for the RVB to commit itself to the complex for the longer term. The renewed lease is for approx. 8,600 m2 of office space and 70 parking spaces at Cascadeplein 8-10, with the addition of approx. 4,870 m2 of office space and 69 parking spaces at Cascadeplein 1-3. This means that the Cascade complex is now fully let.
The new lease for Cascadeplein 1-3 is for Building 1 of the Cascade complex, which the RVB will fully occupy. The current user, the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV) will vacate Cascade in June 2024, following which the RVB will move into the vacated space without delay. The building has undergone major sustainability improvements in recent years and now has energy label A. The air-conditioning systems and control technology have been improved to a high level, the entire building has LED lighting, the heat recovery wheel in the air-conditioning units has been replaced, and the cooling machine and cooling water pumps have been renewed. In addition, at the request of the RVB a hybrid system with heat pumps is being installed, together with electric charging points to make the building even more sustainable.
At Cascadeplein 8-10, further improvements were made in 2022 to Buildings 4 and 5, which now have energy label A++.
