Lease extensions by renovation Eudokiaplein in Rotterdam

03-07-2012

In July 2012 is the start of large-scale renovation activities of the shopping arcade of the Eudokiaplein in Rotterdam. BAM Utiliteitsbouw Rotterdam and designer Vandaag = Morgen will give the shopping mall and the parking garage a new look and a tapis roulant (moving staircase) to connect the shopping arcade with the parking garage, in order to give the public the possibility to take the shopping carts to the car. By affixing the tapis roulant an increase of the number of visitors is expected. During the renovation of the shopping arcade the shops and the parking garage are accessible. The renovation activities are finished by the end of November 2012.

In addition to the renovation of the shopping arcade, the municipality started the full renovation of the Eudokiaplein. The square will be repaved and will be decorated with sections with lots of green. Thanks to both renovations the Eudokiaplein will become a traffic free green area, with plenty of room for relaxation.

These large-scale renovations give a new impulse to the area and the complex and this has led to an agreement for a long term lease extension between the owner of the complex, PingProperties Mix fund II, and Ahold for 2,400 sqm of retail space for Albert Heijn. Ahold will also make a contribution in the renovation of the shopping arcade. Ilham Supermarkt has extended the lease to 400 sqm for a period of 12.5 years. In addition, Willem’s Flowershop has extended the lease of 100 sqm retail space.

The complex at the Eudokiaplein consists of retail and office units and a parking garage under the complex with 218 places. The complex has a very good accessibility by its central location in the northern district and a short distance from Rotterdam central station.
