PingProperties concludes long-term lease with Teijin Aramid

17-01-2019

The former AKZO site in Arnhem, which has been home to both Teijin Aramid and AkzoNobel for many years, is undergoing a major redevelopment. The green light for work to start was given on 14 December 2018. During the coming years this site, owned by PingProperties, will be transformed into a multifunctional district for businesses, educational institutions and homes. This area transformation is expected to be completed during the course of 2021. The arrival of a new lessee, ROC Rijn IJssel, signals a shift of existing users and new parties are moving in, made possible by a combination of redevelopment, renovation and extension of properties on the site.

PingProperties is renovating and improving the sustainability of an existing building for lessee Teijin Aramid, comprising approx. 4,600 m2. In addition, Teijin Aramid remains committed to the site by entering into a new long-term lease for a total of 22,000 m2 including 225 parking spaces. This move enables Teijin Aramid to strengthen its business by creating a stronger synergy between its research facility and its global head office.

Teijin Aramid is a subsidiary of the Teijin Group and is world leader in aramids. Its Twaron®, Teijinconex®, Technora® aramid fibres or its ultra-strong polyethylene (UHMW-PE) Endumax® are used wherever strength, durability, safety, heat resistance or light weight are required. With high-quality materials produced in the Teijin factories in the Netherlands and Japan, it offers a broad range of products. Visit www.teijinaramid.com.

The former AKZO site situated at Velperweg 76 in Arnhem has been owned by PingProperties since 2012. The site covers 13.1 hectares with approx. 70,000 m² of office and laboratory buildings and approx. 700 parking spaces. Until recently the area had a purely business function with lessees AkzoNobel, Teijin Aramid and Nouryon. PingProperties had already sold approx. 5 hectares of land in 2017 to the KlokGroep/BPD consortium for the development of a residential district here with a high-quality living environment. The educational function has now been added with the arrival of ROC Rijn IJssel. The future of this site is now one combining homes, work and education.
