PingProperties to start renovating and improving sustainability of De Argonaut and Koploper in Amersfoort

PingProperties is to start renovating and improving the sustainability of the iconic office buildings of De Argonaut and Koploper, situated right next to Amersfoort Intercity Station. The complex, which was purchased early this year, is divided into 2 buildings with a total lettable floor area of 17,080 m2, together with a basement car park for 182 cars. The business plan provides for improving the complex’s sustainability, as well as modernizing the low-rise building and positioning it separately as ‘Koploper’ (www.koploper-amersfoort.nl). The plans have been finalized in recent months and work is now underway.
Renovation
VEGA Projects will start next month renovating the Koploper building, where the facade and entrance will be given a full upgrade according to a design by Apto Architects. One of the most striking elements is the addition of a completely new canopy to give the building a fresh, modern appearance, entirely in keeping with the architectural appearance of the station’s surroundings. The interior of the building’s entrance will also be given a full makeover. A unique addition to the design is the living green wall, which thanks to the large glass frontage will be clearly visible from outside and create a beautiful focal point in the facade. The new, carefully thought-out layout of the reception area will form an attractive connection between the indoor and outdoor space, creating a harmonious whole. Work is expected to be completed in early 2025.
Sustainability
PingProperties is also working on making the complex even more sustainable. At present the buildings have energy label A and a BREEAM In-Use Very Good certificate. Under its ESG strategy, PingProperties wants to improve this comfortable level even more to energy label A+++ with a BREEAM In-Use Very Good certificate. Now that the plans for this have been finalized, work can get underway. The roof covering will be replaced to allow solar panels to be installed, and all general areas will have LED lighting. Improvements in climate are also being examined as regards structural alterations as well as improving the building services. All the sun blinds will be replaced and the buildings will be connected to district heating to make the complex entirely gas-free. Work is expected to be completed in the spring or summer of 2025.
